I Won the Wife Lottery

I Won the Wife Lottery

While currently serving another month long ban from Facebook, I thought I’d do something a little different today as I take a break from editing a gorgeous set of boudoir images (I’ll hopefully be able to share these soon!) and express my gratitude for all the amazing things I have going on in my life right now.

These images I’m sharing with you today are for me. They are of the most beautiful soul I know and my favorite fluffy thing on the planet. This is my family.

I did this short little session for my wife so we could have the pictures forever to remember. Pictured here she’s about 24 weeks pregnant. We’re expecting our first this August and we’re both pretty stoked about it! It’s been way too long since I got pictures of my Brower dog too. I’m really ashamed at how little I photograph my own family. I really need to get better about this.

Getting the Shots

I literally had about 8 minutes of working time to get these images. It was one of those cloudy days where, the light could be bright with awesome clouds one second and dark and diffuse behind a cloud the next second. We lolly gagged and got out to the Sonoma Valley Regional park about 45min before sunset and started walking up a hill.

We’ve been walking out here pretty regularly lately and the wild flowers where in full bloom at the time. So we basically walked (with a full studio strobe 48” octobox and light stand plus all my photo gear) until we found something cool.

At the top of the hill I saw an extra ordinarily beautiful patch of light illuminating a field of lupins. I quickly waded though the high grass to get out there. I hastily set up my 48” octobox and strobe with about 8 minutes of awesome light left before the sun ducked behind a fog bank for the rest of the evening.

I think the landscape crop of my wife and my woof is going to live somewhere big on one of my walls. I love that shot of them so much!

Not Just Boudoir

If you want to see more of my portrait work, I invite you to come check out my portrait portfolio by clicking on the button below. Boudoir is far and away what I’m most known for these days, but I also LOVE photographing portraits and VERY occasional weddings for the right couples :-)
