Mrs. J came to her Petaluma boudoir photo shoot with a mix of excitement and nerves. She wanted to do her session to reconnect with her confidence. She also thought it might make an awesome gift for her husband!

As we moved through the session and I showed her a few shots on the back of the camera, I watched her shoulders relax and her smile grow. This session was never about changing who she was. It was about showing her the beauty that was there all along.

Her Makeover

Mrs. J’s Petaluma boudoir photo shoot started with a professional makeover so she could feel her absolute best before she ever stepped in front of my camera. She liked the idea of a smoked out eye makeup, so Ducky put her spin on it gave her a smokey eye with plum undertones. These plum undertones tied into the custom plum lips stain she mixed for her lips.

Her makeover included:

  • Pre-moisturizing to prep her skin
  • Foundation and contouring to highlight her features
  • Smoky plum eye shadow, top liner, and mascara
  • Strip lashes to add extra volume and drama
  • Lip liner and custom-mixed lip stain for the perfect color

Review of Her Experience

Below is the note that Mrs. J sent to me after her Petaluma boudoir photo shoot.

Before & After

“This review is over a month in the planning. I have tried to write this out a few times and could not quite capture my thoughts the way I needed to and found myself thinking of better ways to express my opinion as I was driving or cooking so since I have done more than enough planning here it goes.

I met Jason through a mutual friend Ducky. I have known Ducky for ages, I adore and trust her.

Ducky had posted on Facebook that a photographer she worked with (Jason) was doing a casting call for a boudoir shoot.

I figured why not, I had one lovely boudoir shoot with another of Ducky’s photographers and I loved it (that was for my Husband before our wedding). I wanted to do something fun for myself that I enjoyed.

Jason has a professional process for signing up for his boudoir photography and it is a well oiled machine. I was chosen for the casting call and I drove to his house for our first meeting.

During our meeting I was immediately impressed by Jason and his professional yet open nature and being a social person we hit it off well. He gives you a run down of his plan and makes sure you are comfortable with everything before you set a date for the shoot. I live about an hour and a half away so my photography shoot process and reveal of photos was a couple of months in planning due to my work schedule but even so I was very excited to create photos.

I would never classify myself as a stunningly beautiful person, I can mildly agree I am beautiful when I feel like it, my personality is my real draw to anything I do. During my photo session with Jason I knew I was not going to believe that it was really me in the photo reveal.

After hair and makeup Jason gives you some guidelines for the way he poses you for photos and cues you in on what he will be creating when taking photos with you. During my session I was excited and nervous but was easily relaxed and comfortable as soon as we started. Jason knows what he has learned as a photographer and what works well in photography and uses it.

It was amazing how fast the process flew by and how well Jason works with everything from lighting to posing and attention to detail to create your photos. Waiting for my reveal was longer due to my schedule but it was well worth the wait.

I brought my Husband to my reveal because I felt I would be too critical on myself and although I can respect the photography aspect of Jason’s work I was not sure I would be able to fully appreciate my photos. I was mistaken. The magic that was created with Jason was beyond what I was hoping for and I truly love the me that came out in my photographs.

I will recommend Jason to anyone who is looking for a photographer for boudoir- or any other form of photography. Jason’s personality draws you in and it coupled with his professional approach creates a safe and relaxed atmosphere for photos, plus adds an element of life to what you are creating with him. He does what he does very well and really has a passion for creating photos that you will love.”
