Boudoir Photos | JG Boudoir

Boudoir photos to remind yourself how beautiful you actually are. Most of my clients do their session for themselves first, and sometimes as a gift to someone special second.

Let me help you change the way you see yourself by showing you what I see when I look at you. After your photo shoot, you can expect images for yourself consistent with what I show in this gallery.

My Process For Creating Your Boudoir Photos

1. Planning Your Session

The first essential step with every boudoir session I photograph is a video call. Here, together, we'll outline the entire session, diving deep into the nuances of my portfolio to pinpoint your preferred image styles. Once I know more about the details of your intended session, I can then help guide you with:

  • Recommendations for personal care appointments

  • Selecting outfits that perfectly match your body type

  • Where to photograph your session

  • How you’d like your final artwork presented

2. Securing Your Spot: Booking Details

Once you're ready to book your photoshoot, a $500 non-refundable deposit reserves your session date. This not only locks in your preferred date but also ensures my hair and makeup artist is reserved just for you. Plus, it covers the photo session costs, guaranteeing everything runs smoothly.

3. Your Boudoir Photoshoot

Now, the day you've been waiting for. Come with your handpicked outfits and perhaps a bottle of your favorite champagne to set the mood. My skilled makeup artist will work wonders, accentuating your best features, as I guide you through every frame. Remember, a boudoir photoshoot with me is an immersive experience, typically running from 10 am to 6 pm. Plan accordingly as I help you capture the best photos you’ve ever seen of yourself!

4. Image Reveal & Order

Around 2-3 weeks post-shoot, your handpicked and meticulously edited images will be ready. Brace yourself for a reveal session, where you'll have the chance to view and purchase only the images you absolutely love from your photoshoot.

How to Get Ready for Boudoir Photos

In my experience a good plan is the key to getting the best boudoir photos from your session. Don’t  worry, none of it is very hard, but knowing all the little tasks and when to do them will compound into an amazing outcome. By figuring out your preparation strategy beforehand, you'll find yourself more at ease during your shoot knowing you’ve shown up fully prepared.

The following boudoir photoshoot tips are the most impactful things you can do to make your images better. By  improving your appearance beforehand your photos will look better in camera before any editing takes place.

  • Grooming: Choose your preferred hair removal method (if desired). If shaving, beware of skin irritation. For those who prefer to wax, aim for 3-5 days before your session after letting hair grow for 2-3 weeks to avoid irritation in your photos.

  • Tan Lines: A seamless tan elevates boudoir photos. Finish traditional tanning 2 weeks prior, or opt for a quick spray tan if you're short on time.

  • Hair, Nails, and Lashes: Schedule hair coloring 3-5 days before your photoshoot, and avoid last-minute drastic style changes. Freshen up nails 1-2 days prior, avoiding stick-ons. To enhance your eyes, consider lash extensions, booked 1-3 days ahead with a trusted expert, or have us apply strip lashes during your makeover.

  • Teeth whitening: If your smile is a concern, book an appointment with your dentist for a teeth whitening treatment or do it yourself with over the counter products 2-3 weeks before your photoshoot.

Remember, attention to these details will not only help with your confidence once you step in front of the camera, it will also help elevate the quality of your final images. Once I have these captures, I will then refine your images further with editing. The trick is getting your appearance as nice as possible without editing, and then further enhancing from this elevated starting point.

Where to Take Boudoir Photos

Selecting the right location for your boudoir photos can feel overwhelming given the multitude of choices. Commonly preferred spots include:

  • hotel rooms

  • your own home

  • outdoor settings

  • Airbnb/VRBO rentals

Using your home introduces a unique intimacy to boudoir photos. Aesthetically pleasing décor enhances images, but it's the artistry in lighting and decor arrangements that truly makes a difference.

Outdoor settings offer a distinct charm, but remember, a secluded space is ideal. It’s also important to remember that when considering Airbnb/VRBO, it's wise to prioritize quality and, if possible, rent from "superhosts".

For those wanting to stand out, thinking outside the box and finding unique locations can make your boudoir photos distinct. You can check out this boudoir location ideas post here to help generate more ideas for where to do your photoshoot.
