Classy Minimal Boudoir

Classy minimal boudoir is all about keeping things as simple as possible while at the same time not showing too much of the body to help keep things tasteful. I like to do this by keeping the background and outfit as simple as possible. This approach to minimalist boudoir photography will help future proof your photos since there will be less background and outfit to date your photos as time goes on.

Backgrounds For Classy Minimal Boudoir

Styling a classy minimal boudoir shoot is pretty simple. These types of photos can be captured in your home with a bare wall as the background. You can also include some elements like bedroom end tables and lamps and so forth. That said, you’ll want to remember that the more of these items you include in your background, the more you run the risk of dating your photos as time goes on.

Everything from the furniture to the decorations and lighting will date your photos as styles change. This is why for minimalist boudoir photography I suggest having your portraits captured on blank walls or in a studio on seamless papers.

Although a spartan background will help create classy minimal boudoir photos, it’s definitely not required. Sometimes just doing your photos on the floor in a patch of sunlight will isolate you enough to create a minimalist aesthetic. Alternatively, working in a room with good light control (like room darkening curtains) can cut out background clutter by putting everything in shadow. This can help keep the focus on you where it should be.

Outfits for Classy Minimal Boudoir

Although the background choice of your boudoir photos is a major way to style minimalism into your final images, your outfit choice is arguably the most potent way to keep your images simplistic.

You’ll want to choose classy boudoir outfits  that are plain for timeless results. For minimal boudoir you should be the focus, not your outfit. Any outfit that will draw attention away from your body will be less minimalist by definition. Thus, it’s important to choose simple outfits that keep the attention on you rather than drawing it toward your lingerie.

A good way to do this is to choose boudoir outfits that are the same color as the background you’ll be photographed on. For example, if you’ll be photographed in a dark room or on a black background, black (or dark) lingerie will feel more minimalist than say red or white.

In most cases, I actually prefer to  photograph women nude for classy minimal boudoir because then there will be no clothes to distract from the minimalist look. Then to make your final images classy, I’ll then pose and light you so that your intimate areas are posed into shadow. Alternatively I can also crop your sensitive areas out of the photos or capture you from angles   that obscure these areas.

Minimalist Boudoir Photography

In conclusion, for best results when trying to create minimalist boudoir photos you’ll want to be mindful of both the background of your photos and your lingerie. These two things are the biggest factors for creating minimalist boudoir photography.

Remember that creating minimalist photos can be done anywhere, and might even comprise only a few photos from your set. Just make sure you give your boudoir photographer the opportunity with a clean background and simple lingerie. With these things, any boudoir photographer worth their salt should be able to create classy minimal boudoir photos for you just about anywhere.
