Ending a relationship is emotionally exhausting, and rediscovering confidence after divorce can often feel like an insurmountable task. Between the negative circumstance and your inner critic, seeing the positive side of things can often feel overwhelming and pointless.
The good news is that just as the brain can become conditioned for negative thinking, it can also be re-wired for positive thoughts. In this post I’ll show you how boudoir photography helped Ms. J re-calibrate her brain with positive visual references, that silenced her inner critic.

How She Changed Her Post Divorce Mindset
Boudoir photography helped Ms. J transform her post-divorce mindset by creating a personal collection of empowering images that served as a daily vision board.
These photos show her at her best and became concrete evidence of her beauty and strength during a time when she questioned her worth.
Why Vision Boards Work
Research suggests that vision boards can meaningfully help to reduce both depression and anxiety.
According to a 2024 study published in BMC Psychiatry (PMC11520180) which analyzed 1,061 adults who used vision boards as part of a structured six-month program.
Depression symptoms dropped 17.3 percentage points from 46 percent to 28.7 percent and anxiety symptoms dropped from 15.1 percentage points 44.3 percent to 29.2 percent.
These findings suggest that the use of a vision board will likely help support a more positive mindset as you rediscover you confidence post divorce.
Using Boudoir Photos as Positive Affirmations
Boudoir photography operates through the same psychological mechanism as a positive affirmations vision board. By showing Ms. J what she actually looks like from her best angles, sculpted in beautiful light, she has evidence she can check in with daily to remind herself that she’s beautiful.
Viewing these photos of herself literally rewired her negative thought patterns. This visual approach creates a stronger emotional impact than affirmations or journaling alone because it’s evidence she can see daily as she get’s ready in the morning.
Ms. J applied this practice after her divorce. Her boudoir photographs functioned as a permanent, personalized vision board. Regular exposure to these images silenced her inner critic and accelerated her return to confidence and self-acceptance.
But don’t take my word for it, below is what Ms. J felt these photos did for her, in her own words.
In Her Words
“This was truly a delicious experience that I wish I could repeat every year. After coming out of a difficult time in my life, I wanted to do something to see the more sensuous and seductive side of myself and thought boudoir photography would be a great step.
In searching for someone, I wanted to know that I was going to be empowered by the final product and was very impressed by Jason’s portfolio.
As soon as I kicked off the process, I had no regrets.
Jason was a true professional and great at making me feel both comfortable and beautiful. Ducky gave me the best makeover of my life… while still making me feel like myself. The final shots are something that I will treasure. I would (and have) recommended this experience to anyone I know.”
