This January I drove out to Oakville for a Napa boudoir photo shoot with Mrs. K, a mom of two, at her home.
She had long promised her husband that she would do a session, and after researching many photographers, she chose me because she loved the lighting and attention to detail in my work.
Mrs. K did a wonderful job preparing for her session by really taking the time to find lingerie that flattered her body type.
She told me during her session that after measuring herself and using the tool in my guide, she determined she was a “square” body type.
Following the advice from the boudoir lingerie adviser, she chose several bodysuits plus a really pretty corset from Thistle and Spire.
These outfits enhanced her natural curves beautifully and really added to her final set.
Boudoir Photos In Her Bedroom
We started her album by first capturing some tasteful boudoir photos in her bedroom. To spice up the background interest, I asked if she had any candles and used those in the background for a little extra pop. You’ll also notice that I gelled one of my rim lights for these photos to make it look like the candle light gently illuminated the opposing rim of her body.

Mustard Flower Boudoir Photos
While the vines were dormant when we photographed this in January, the wild mustard was in full bloom across the Napa Valley. So we stepped into the vineyard at sunset, where I guided her toward some of my favorite images of the day, right among the blooming mustard flowers growing behind her house.

Artistic Chiaroscuro Boudoir Portraits
These artistic chiaroscuro boudoir portraits bring the session to a powerful close in her bedroom. Using dramatic contrast between light and shadow, I directed her into some beautiful cross light to accentuate her curves. This dramatic lighting adds depth and really highlighted the lean muscle she’d built from all her hard work in the gym prior to her session!

Mrs. K’s Before & After
Below is Mrs. K’s before and after from her boudoir session. As I do with my clients, her “before” photo on the left was captured in even light without posing direction prior to her makeover. Her “after” photo is following her makeover with Ducky, and is lit, directed, and hand retouched by me.

In Her Words
“I had long promised my husband that I would do a boudoir photo session. I researched many photographers and luckily, I came upon Jason Guy’s photographs. I knew within minutes that he was the one I wanted to work with. I loved all the lighting and photo compositions in his gallery. His attention to ALL details is unparalleled! If you have any doubts in your mind about working with Jason, let me save you time, and say unequivocally DO IT!
From our first phone call discussing details about location and the photo shoot, he answered my questions and asked for my input and what I wanted to see. Jason is a consummate professional and I urge you to read his guidance emails about what appointments to make the week of (waxing, manicures etc) and then what lingerie suits your body type. For me this was invaluable advice since I was at a loss what would accentuate my figure, but with Jason’s guide I found great corsets and bodysuits that I loved wearing!
I cannot neglect mentioning Ducky who Jason works exclusively with for makeup and hair. She did an amazing job!
Then during the photo session, seriously listen to everything Jason tells you do. Just smile and enjoy the experience! Jason will help you pose and create the most beautiful and memorable photos of you. I’m still in awe viewing the photos from that day. Thank you so much Jason!”

Her Boudoir Album
After her boudoir session I chose my favorite images and designed a custom boudoir album for her and her husband. Once the design was finished we all met on a video call to review it together. They loved what I presented.
Her husband then shared a special request. He asked if we could include some of their winery’s label marks in the book. I loved the idea!
We added three marks that they use on their labels: the letters “ER” (for Elizabeth Rose) on the front cover, one as a set break between photo groups, and a cross in a publisher’s mark style on the spine.
The front cover and spine marks were silver embossed. The set break was printed jet black to subtly frame each group of images. The cross on the spine was a one-of-a-kind request I had never done before.
I reached out to my album maker Folio Albums and they made it happen exactly as we wanted. These marks became the finishing touches that turned this book into a true fine art boudoir album.
