“I’d love to do a boudoir session, but I don’t think I can at my age.” I hear this all the time from women considering boudoir over 40. They remember their younger selves and feel like they missed their chance, believing boudoir is only for the young and “perfect.” This post shows how boudoir at any age can be beautiful, by simply focusing on a few key ideas that are sure to make you fall in love with your body again.
40+ Boudoir Photography Before & After
How Old is Too Old For A Boudoir Photo Shoot?
A lot of women wonder if they’re too old for a photo shoot, but I think this is the wrong question. The real question is if you’re in good enough condition for a boudoir photo shoot. I’ve photographed women well into their 60’s who were in such excellent condition, they inspired me to adopt similar habits myself. Without question these women were not too old for a boudoir session.
On the other hand I’ve also photographed 30 year old women who were not exercising and confessed to poor eating habits. These women looked older than some of my other 40+ boudoir clients with healthy habits.
What I’ve learned after seeing a lot of people wearing not very much, and getting to ask them about their lifestyle, is that health is beauty.
The healthier you are, the more physically attractive you’ll be at any age. In short, it’s less about how old you are and more about how long you can consistently practice healthy habits.

Boudoir Over 40 Is a Chance To See Yourself At Your Best
Many of my clients tell me their boudoir experience is life-changing. I’ve even had more than a few of my clients tell me that their sessions did more for their mindset then years of therapy.
Seeing themselves through my lens gave them a confidence boost they never expected.
The truth is, however, that most of us never see ourselves under flattering lighting from our best angles. Seeing yourself in tastefully sexy photos can instill a powerful shift in perspective, boosting confidence and inspiring boldness in other areas of your life.
For many that already practice healthy habits, sometimes you can’t see all the hard work you’ve put in because you only ever see yourself from your worst angles, under terrible light after you get out of the shower. Seeing yourself at your best, changes this.
In other cases, it wasn’t just about seeing themselves at their best, but using a boudoir photo shoot to reach a goal to start exercising and eat better. Some of my favorite sessions have been for women who used their boudoir photo shoot as a reward for loosing 100+ lbs or even just establishing the habit of regular exercise.
Working with clients over 50 has inspired me to take better care of myself because they showed me what was possible. I’ve seen firsthand how prioritizing health and well-being affects how we feel and look at 40, 50, 60, and beyond (my eldest client was 76). Witnessing these differences inspired me to adopt healthier habits in my own life, making self-care a daily practice.
