This boudoir photo shoot overview will give you an idea of what you can expect when you book your session with me. My process has been honed after thousands of hours of experience photographing hundreds of women. To help you avoid common pitfalls, and give you ideas to enhance your photos every session with me includes four main events:

Planning your Boudoir Photo Shoot

Every session with me starts with an style consultation so we can plan out your intended session together. This is done via a phone or video call and will help set you up for success so you get the best photos possible from your session.

At this consultation we will discuss which images from my portfolio resonated with you most, and find out what you like stylistically so we can plan the specifics your boudoir photo shoot accordingly.

Planning your photo shoot is the most important step for getting boudoir photos like I show in my portfolio. At your consultation I will help you decide which personal care appointments to book and when to schedule them leading up to your session. Additionally, I’ll also help you with boudoir outfit ideas for your specific body type as well as  location possibilities for your photo shoot. This consultation is also a great time to figure out how you’ll want your final artwork presented. I will go over all of the options with you at your consultation

He wears a crisp, light blue dress shirt under a black blazer. His skin appears smooth with a natural complexion. The lighting is soft and even, highlighting his features without harsh shadows. The subject is identified as Sonoma boudoir photographer Jason Guy, known for his professional and artistic work in intimate photography.

Your Makeover

Before your photo shoot, your features will be enhanced by my makeup artist. Basically you can tell her to do whatever style you want or show her your Pinterest board and she’ll work towards that look with you at your makeover.

Alternatively, you can let her do whatever she wants and that always turns out spectacular! Some women want natural looks, while other’s choose to liven things up with more dramatic eye shadows and lip stains. It’s totally up to you however you want to style your images. I think both looks can be beautiful in the right context.

Whatever you decide, your boudoir makeover includes but is not limited to:

  • Pre Moisturizing
  • Foundation / Contouring
  • Eye Shadow W/Custom Mixed Colors
  • Eye Liner, Wing Tips, Waterline etc.
  • Mascara / Strip Lashes
  • Lip Liner and Stains W/Custom Mixed Colors
  • Hair Straightening or Curls

Your Photo Shoot

Right after your makeover, we’ll start your photo shoot. You’ll be fully prepared with everything you need thanks to the checklist I gave to you the week before your photo shoot. To begin, I’ll show you how to pose your body and how to communicate expressively. Once you know the basics I’ll guide you into flattering poses and capture you in beautiful light. Just bring the outfits you’ve chosen and your favorite champagne—I’ll handle everything else!

Keep in mind that a photo shoot with me is an all-day experience, usually from 10AM to 6PM. If you want to repurpose your makeup and go out after your shoot, just let me know so I can make sure to wrap up in time. If you want to get an idea of what to expect when you book your photo shoot with me, you can check out my boudoir photo shoots page to see some of my recent client’s experiences!

 Image Selection

After your photo shoot, I’ll sort through all the images and curate my favorites for you. If you really want, I can provide a watermarked proofing gallery of everything I captured from your photo shoot, but for most people, this isn’t helpful—you won’t have the editing tools I do to properly compare and choose from thousands of captures. During a session, I typically take between 1,000 and 4,000 photos. From these, I narrow it down to the best ones and apply basic edits. If you’re getting an album, I’ll also start designing it at this stage.

Once the images have been pre-edited and your album layout is ready, I’ll reach out so you can pick your favorites or tweak your design. After you’ve made your selections and your final invoice is paid, I’ll hand edit all of your images and order any products you’d like. Lead times are typically 10 days for digital files and 3-4 weeks for products, however lead times may vary according to my prior commitments.

Ways To View Your Final Artwork

A close-up of a framed fine art print featuring a black-and-white boudoir triptych. The photograph is taken at an angle, emphasizing the depth of the white matting and the sleek black frame. The three intimate nude portraits within the triptych are softly blurred in the foreground, drawing attention to the texture of the fine art print and the craftsmanship of the presentation. The middle image, depicting a woman's back, is most in focus, highlighting the curvature of her figure. The print rests on a white marble surface, where natural light casts soft reflections, enhancing the elegance and sophistication of the fine art piece.
