Helping my clients feel confident has always been my top priority. For this Sonoma boudoir photo shoot I did this very thing by showing Ms S what I see what I look at her. By showing my clients what they look like at their best it’s often enough to help shift the mindset away from the negative self talk many of us have. This in turn shifts the mindset from one of negative self talk and doubt to one of confidence and inner strength.
Now, I get it—this might sound like a sales pitch or that I’m overstating the effect of a boudoir photo shoot to try and make a sale. Fair enough. Rather than try to convince you that you can do this, I’d rather Ms. S just told you about her experience on her own without me getting in the way.
In Her Words

“Get ready to say goodbye to all of your insecurities because by the time you’re through with your shoot, they’ll be long gone! The way Jason posed my body into and out of the light, I quickly realized I was in good hands and after he shared a few shots with me, my butterflies disappeared. As the day went on, his photos made me even more confident. I highly recommend a boudoir session with Jason – you’ll finally see yourself as beautiful as everyone else does!”

Seeing Herself in a New Light
At her reveal session, Mrs. S shared how the experience changed how she saw herself. I hear this a lot, but then she said something I’ll never forget:
“I walked out of my house in public for the first time in years wearing shorts!”

That floored me. My first thought? Why wouldn’t a gorgeous woman like you wear shorts in public? I almost couldn’t wrap my head around it.
This moment was the perfect example of how differently I saw her versus how she saw herself. My goal with every session is simple—to show you what I see when I look at you. Sometimes, that’s all it takes for you to start seeing yourself in a new light.
At one point, she even told me she felt silly for needing a boudoir session to boost her self-esteem. She asked out loud:
“Why couldn’t I just see it for myself when I looked in the mirror?”
For whatever reason, she couldn’t. But I love that her final images helped her see what she hadn’t been able to before. Changing how someone sees themselves is the most rewarding part of what I do.
Body Goals Unlocked!
The idea that you need to lose weight before a session is one of the most common reasons women hesitate to book. I don’t take this excuse seriously unless, like Mrs. S, they set a goal and commit. I’ve always encouraged setting a deadline and focusing on getting stronger in that timeframe. It keeps you accountable and stops the endless “one day” procrastination. Mrs. S chose to improve her cycling skills leading up to her session.
She gave herself four months and lost 20 pounds before her shoot. Even then, she was STILL super nervous! But she pushed through, and her hard work paid off. High five, girl! Major kudos for going for it despite your insecurities!
